Suicide/Self Harm

If you need immediate care do not hesitate to call 999, a very helpful trained first responder will help you get the support you need.

If you can not keep yourself safe from self harm please go to your nearest accident and emergency and ask to see a member of the mental health team.

If you want to talk to someone about suicide please contact Pieta House, 1800247247. They have 24 hour availability with a therapist on the other end of the line.

Your GP can also be a source of support.

Pieta house offers a twelve week free counseling service to those eligible for support, waitlists may apply.

Domestic Violence

If you need to make yourself safe please go to your nearest garda station (only if it is safe to do so) and they will contact support services for you and your family members.

Mens Aid 01 5543811 between the hours of 9 and 5.

Your local refuge can also provide services and the above services can provide access to that.

Sexual Assault

In the advent of a recent assault please contact the gardai for support, they will support you in getting services and medical care and assist you in choosing what is the best path forward for you.

Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.Helpline  please contact 1800778888 which is the National Rape Crisis Support Service in Ireland They have many services they can offer you.

One In Four

If you are looking to speak to someone as an adult survivor of child sexual abuse, this agency can be contacted on 016624070.

If you are a parent or guardian seeking to support a child who has experienced sexual abuse please contact Cari on 0818924567.

Childline

If you are a child and need support please contact 1800 666666 and a safe person will help you get support with whatever the problem is.

National Counseling Service

This service is open to survivors of abuse and can be self referred to and offers therapy at no cost to those assessed as suitable for the service. A gp can also refer you. There is a waiting list and the phone number is area dependent. Please look up national counseling service ( your area ) contact details in a google search engine and their details will come up.

LGBTQ+

LGBTQ+ Ireland

This service is linked to Pieta houses support service and provides around the clock care to those experiencing challenges and risks relating to feelings of self harm or if experiencing bullying. 1800247247 or text 51444 Belong to in first message.

Your GP can refer you to services but the following are also useful supports.

HSE 1800804591 this helpline is a great support for talking through mental health services in Ireland and how best to get the care required.

HSE helpline number is a general resource to help guide you towards support services available in Ireland 1800459459.

AA is a support service for alcohol addiction and the families of those with alcohol addiction 0818227228.

NA is a support service for those addicted to substances and the families of those addicted to substances 01672800.

GA is a support service for those addicted to gambling 018721133.

In general for support related to mental health, identity, diversity your GP is the main source of referral.

If you like to do your own research, ensure to use your location and the words supports available for, in the search engine and the HSE pages and any other services related to it should come up.

If unsure, your local citizens’ advice center can also help or medical centers.
